About us |

The Ethnic Minorities Law Centre is a
recognised Scottish charity and has been operating since 1991 as a non-profit
making company limited by guarantee providing ethnic minority communities
with access to professional services to address unmet legal needs. Based in
Glasgow and governed by a voluntary Board of Directors, we are the only
dedicated centre in Britain providing legal services exclusively to black and
ethnic minority communities. Consequently we have developed specialist
knowledge and experience in specific areas of the law, particularly
discrimination and immigration. We therefore offer a unique range of legal
services to ethnic minority communities who need help in accessing their
rights and in redressing racial discrimination; potentially a model for
national application. |

Our ethos is firmly based in the
principles of equal access and anti-racism. We were established to redress the unequal access to
legal services experienced by black and ethnic minority communities in
Glasgow and the surrounding areas. |

We
have two offices based in Scotland’s largest cities, Glasgow and
Edinburgh. We operate on an appointment system as well as operating a
telephone advice line. If you would prefer an interpreter to be
arranged for an appointment please ask reception to arrange this for
you. We also carry out outreach community work in the form of surgeries
